D2 Hybrid Ocean CTD Dives into Oceanographic World Interview

D2 Jumps Headlong into Oceanography with its Hybrid CTD

Innovation is rampant in the subsea sector, and D2 Hybrid Ocean CTD is a perfect example, branching out into the CTD sector following a request five years ago from the U.S. Navy. Dean Fougere, VP, D-2 Incorporated, discusses with Marine Technology TV the path from jet fuel certifier to the oceanography business. In this interview with Marine Technology Reporter I go over the history of D-2 Incorporated in the Oceanography field. I discuss how D-2 went from certifying jet fuel to measuring the bottom of the Ocean with CTD sensors. I discuss the Hybrid CTD development via a SBIR program for the US Navy to put CTD’s on UUV’s, AUV’s for the Arctic Environment.  We now have a full line of CTD technology that utilizes our hybrid cell, which has the advantages of both inductive and closed field cells but none of the disadvantages. This allows us to offer closed field precision with free flowing seawater. We can build these Hybrid CTDs into varying OEM apparatus and we can build them into extremely low power versions. We had on display an aluminum version of the Hybrid CTD which can measure down to 3000 meters. The Titanium builds we offer can reach depths of 11,500 meters. The D2 Hybrid Ocean CTD sensor also has the advantage of quick delivery times and fast calibration turnarounds. These sensors are being delivered currently in 4-8 weeks, and calibrations are under 2 weeks. You can view the D2 Hybrid Ocean CTD here: https://www.d-2.com/hybrid-ctd-ocean/

The Ocean CT sensor was also on display. This small, extremely lightweight, and very low power salinity temperature sensor has become increasingly popular. The Ocean CT being a low cost easy to integrate solution for measuring ocean salinity and temperature down to 500 meters. These are great for multiple platform types and because of their low cost and quick delivery times have become an increasingly popular option.
