Doomsday glacier collapse spotted by satellite. Two decades of studying the Antarctica Thwaites Eastern Ice Shelf has shown the glacier is on the verge of collapse. The glacier the size of Rhode Island contains a vast amount of water frozen and as it melts will lead to sea level rise globally. This glacier system is changing more rapidly than any other ice sea system on the planet. It’s full collapse could be catastrophic to coastal areas across the planet. Mystery Deep Ocean Carbon Fixers, in a story from University of California Santa Barbera UCSB. Scientists studied how the Ocean sequesters carbon from the atmosphere. It has been known that the majority of this turning carbon from the atmosphere is done by microbes. Phytoplankton in particular, that live near the Ocean surface and use photosynthesis.
