Ocean News 14: First Story Kamchatka Earthquake…

In this episode of Ocean News 14, we are covering a few major new stories starting with the massive 8.8 earthquake off the Kamchatka Peninsula and a report by USGS. We saw video of the tsunami wreckage created by this large Earthquake, one of the largest ever recorded. As the climate continues to change, will these tsunami’s and earthquakes continue to get worse? 

Deep Ocean Life Discovered by Manned Submersible…. 

The next story comes from the bottom of the Ocean, a discovery of deep sea marine life. Far down in the Ocean they hypothesized some life existed but turns out, there is an abundance of life at the bottom of the Ocean according to a Chinese manned submersible.

We polluted the Ocean with Nano Plastics…

One of the most important stories is the Nano Plastic pollution of our oceans. Absolutely tiny pieces of plastic are being absorbed by the Ocean as nanoparticles, and these particles are so small they are being absorbed into the Ocean food chain. What is causing the pollution? Should we be worried about Nano plastics in our ocean? Can we do anything to stop this pollution?

Baby Coral Reef Spreads Via Ocean Currents…

Another important reason to study Ocean Currents is Baby Coral. Coral spreads via water flow and currents. In this short video from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, we see baby coral flowing in the Ocean.
